In order to use COMPUTER SELECT (R) Limited Edition, you must have:
■ An IBM PC/XT or AT, COMPAQ, or other computer fully compatible with
this product.
■ A minimum of 640K random access memory (RAM) installed.
■ A minimum of 500K available space on your hard disk.
■ DOS version 3.1 or above.
■ MSCDEX.EXE version 2.0 or above.
COMPUTER SELECT requires that the FILES and BUFFERS in your CONFIG.SYS file
be set to at least 25 FILES and 20 BUFFERS. Use an ASCII editor, such as
EDLIN, to change the CONFIG.SYS file if necessary. FILES and BUFFERS should
be placed on two separate lines in your CONFIG.SYS file in the following
format:
FILES=25
BUFFERS=20
IN ORDER TO ACCESS COMPUTER SELECT, YOUR CURRENT DRIVE MUST BE YOUR HARD
DRIVE. YOU CANNOT ACCESS COMPUTER SELECT FROM YOUR CD-ROM DRIVE. At the
DOS prompt type "L:\CSLE" (where L: is the device letter of your CD-ROM
drive) and press RETURN.
If your system has a monochrome monitor, and Computer Select is not
displaying correctly, use the monochrome switch when executing CSLE. At the
DOS prompt type "L:\CSLE M" (where L: is the device letter of your CD-ROM
drive) and press RETURN.
Some systems with CGA displays will cause snow to appear on your screen
when running Computer Select. If snow appears on your monitor, use the CGA
switch when executing CSLE. At the DOS prompt type "L:\CSLE C" (where L:
is the device letter of your CD-ROM drive) and press RETURN.
If your are using a memory manager, such as QEMM, which allows you to load
FILES into High Memory, use the FILES switch when executing CSLE. At the
DOS prompt type "L:\CSLE F" (where L: is the device letter of your CD-ROM
drive) and press RETURN.
If you wish to disable the SYSTEM function from within Computer Select, use
the System switch when executing CSLE. At the DOS prompt type "L:\CSLE S"
(where L: is the device letter of your CD-ROM drive) and press RETURN.
If you wish to use multiple switches, they can simply be listed one after
the other. For example, if you wanted to use all the above switches, at the
DOS prompt you would type "L:\CSLE MCFS" (where L: is the device letter of
your CD-ROM drive) and press RETURN.
